Reconcile Australia Party Policies

Why form a party to stand up for Reconciliation?

We believe

Reconciliation is essentially a people’s movement. It represents the hopes and desires of many Australians who want to see justice and equity for all people in this country, Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal alike.

  • In Australia, Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal people must work together to fulfil the future destiny of Australia.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (ATSI) need representation in the political processes of this nation, to achieve acknowledgement and participation in Australia’s domestic and international affairs, as well as, to drive the reconciliation process.

  • there are pressing issues that affect ATSI families more so than the broader Australian community that must be addressed; the current Northern Territory Intervention by the Federal Government, The rights of ATSI Australians and Reconciliation with the broader Australian community, Justice, health, education, housing, employment, relationship breakdown, substance abuse and child abuse. These are serious issues requiring a strong voice solely committed to families to ensure that issues important to the ATSI families are kept at the forefront of political debate in Australia.

  • Reconcile Australia Party will work to refocus the Australian political process on to the issues that are most important to ATSI Australians and to build sustainable relationships to allow every Australian family to reach its potential.

Why form a party focussing on the Reconciliation of ATSI families and disadvantaged groups into the broader Australian community?

  • an Australia that provides equal life chances for all. Recognising and respecting the special place, culture and contribution of ATSI people to Australia’s past, present and future.

  • to promote and build better relationships between Aboriginal and Non Australians for the benefit of all Australians.

  • political parties generally have constituencies they predominately represent, like business, unions or rural voters. Reconcile Australia Party as the name implies, represents ATSI families and disadvantaged groups  and their aspirations to seek equality in the Australian political system and acceptance by the broader Australian community.

  • healthy and stable family life is the key to harmonious communities and society.

  • Reconcile Australia Party will work towards changes in Law and Policies that create the best possible environment for equality.

Health

Reconcile Australia Party believes that children are our future, their health and development is everybody’s business.

  • however, there is a significant health gap between Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal Australians, as there is limited access to primary health care services.

  • tackling the health and early development needs of ATSI children and their mothers must be given a high priority for any government committed to improving life outcomes.

  • to have a health care system that is affordable and equitable for all disadvantaged groups in Australia.

Education

  • Reconcile Australia Party believes that education is the corner stone to developing and equipping ATSI and Non ATSI Australians to assure their and the Nation’s future.

  • education is widely recognised as the key to promoting reconciliation in a broader sense. It provides the tools and the self esteem for young people to triumph over disadvantage in all areas of their lives including health, housing and employment.

  • despite many education initiatives implemented by Commonwealth and the various State Governments over the past 20 years, ATSI students continue to be the most disadvantaged student group in Australia.

Economic Management

  •            better money management opportunities will offer real scope for addressing many of the broad range of problems that face ATSI communities, such as, substance abuse, reduced health, education and housing outcomes. Effective money management is particularly important in remote communities because they face high prices, high transport costs, strong pressure to share their income and high levels of substance misuse in their communities.

Justice

  •         Reconcile Australia Party believes in the principles of access and equity and the rights of ATSI and Non ATSI people to live in a just and secure society. We acknowledge that more needs to be done to ensure that ATSI people enjoy the same advantages and opportunities as all other Australians.

  • Reconcile Australia Party recognises the importance of developing a sustainable plan to manage the environment and the growing Australian society. Reconcile Australia Party is committed to the environment as essential to ensuring the future sustainability of our unique Australia.

  • we acknowledge the necessity of Government partnerships with the ATSI Communities and their abilities to work with Industry, Science and Agriculture. This is critical in assessing environmental changes facing Australia today.

  • Reconcile Australia Party will support research and funding in the areas of Alternative Energy, Recycling, Technology for Waste Management and Economic Management to ensure that Australia has a balanced ecosystem.

Security

  • our Nation’s security is of vital importance and has both a domestic and international dimension. Reconcile Australia Party is committed to appropriate security which is essential for both ATSI and Non ATSI families to be safe.

  • Reconcile Australia Party is committed to having the adequate means and support for our Defence Forces to provide state of the art security and protection for our community.

  • we are committed to winning the war on terror and acknowledge the need to carefully deploy our Armed Forces in cooperation with the International Community.

  • we will support the strengthening, capacity and improvement of the protection of our borders in an orderly and compassionate manner and will foster sustainable increases in the level of Australian overseas aid.

  • Reconcile Australia Party believes that the use of force must only be taken when all other avenues have been exhausted including diplomatic, after a full consideration and analysis has been undertaken. This includes strengthening the efficiency of Australia’s Intelligence Services.

  • It is fundamental that Australia must meet its obligation to protect Australians and their families, both within and outside Australia.

Employment

  • reconcile Australia Party believes that good Economic Management is the key to ensuring access to employment and business opportunities so that ATSI and Non ATSI Australians can share in the wealth that our local economy generates.

  • we believe that all Australians have the right to access full time employment.

  • we recognise that growth in access to employment and business opportunities is the key to ensuring that all Australians are able to share equitably in the wealth and income generated by our economy. Sound macro-economic management policies together with specific policies aimed at growing jobs and reducing constrains on the development and growth of small business.
